What power does poetry hold for you? What is a powerful poem that has moved you? What makes it powerful? Is it the language, the voice, the imagery, the emotion, or something else? Bring a poem you find powerful to share aloud and tell us why it moves you.
Following the sharing of poems, we will have an open discussion of how Write On and the evolving Door County Poets Collective can spread the power of poetry throughout the county. Bring your ideas of ways you would like to see/hear poetry. Light refreshments will be served.
We are looking for people of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about poetry to share their ideas with us. Both writers and readers are encouraged to take part! Can’t make it? We still want to hear your thoughts! Share them with us by emailing our Artistic Director.
About the Door County Poets Collective:
The collective was formed by Estella Lauter during her tenure as Door County Poet Laureate, 2013-2015. The primary goal of the Collective at that time was to publish an anthology of poetry about the county. Soundings: Door County in Poetry appeared in 2015. This was followed a few years later by Halfway to the North Pole: Door County in Poetry.
Since then, the Collective has been inactive but is being revived with the support of original members and the leadership of poet Chera Van Falcon Burg and Write On’s Artistic Director, Jerod Santek.
