Administrative Assistant

Write On, Door County focuses on the importance of writing, reading, and connecting people through stories. Located on a 59-acre campus in the middle of the Door County peninsula, Write On offers classes, programs, and special events year-round for writers and readers of all ages and levels of experience. We are looking for a responsible Administrative Assistant to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Duties of the Administrative Assistant include greeting and assisting visitors to the Write On writing center, answering the phone and providing support to staff and board members, assist in daily office and programming needs, and managing the organization’s general administrative activities. The position is 30 hours per week, 9 am to 3 pm, Wednesday through Sunday with one weekend off per month as scheduled.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Welcome and provide information to visitors by answering questions and requests.
  • Register names and receive payment for memberships, donations, and limited retail sales.
  • Act as the point of contact for program attendees, author residents, and vendors.
  • Order office and programming supplies.
  • Manage limited retail store: sales and inventory tracking.
  • Ensure operation of office equipment and/or calling for repairs.
  • Support as needed for administrative duties such as filing, copying, collating.
  • Support as needed for programming hospitality, set-up, and clean-up.
  • Library intake/database entry.
  • Primary contact for facilities upkeep (housekeeping, etc.).
  • Mail/track donor thank you letters.
  • Coordinate volunteers as required.
  • An affinity for reading and/or writing.
  • Polite, welcoming, and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, e.g., printer, scanner, copier.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Drive tools.
  • Experience with MailChimp a plus.
  • Familiarity with Social Media platforms a plus.
  • Familiarity with Apple McIntosh desktop a plus.
  • Bookkeeping skills a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Good written skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, college degree a plus.
  • 2-3 years’ experience.
30 hours per week, 9 am-3 pm, Weds – Sun, $18.00 - $20.00/hour (based on experience).  One weekend off per month as scheduled.
