This class will create a safe, open space for participants to write about old or new pains or loss or happy moment needing to be brought back in … sadness mirrors joy. Led by various volunteer facilitators, each session will take a different approach to the topic. . Time will be given to write and share stories if desired. Weather permitting, some sessions may be held outdoors.
This program is presented free (good will donations accepted at the door) but registration is required. Sessions are held the second Saturday of every month, 1 – 2 pm.
Karen Nystrom is a poet and playwright living in Ellison Bay, WI. She has an MFA in Writing from Vermont College. Her poems have appeared in 8142 Review, The Denver Quarterly, The Harvard Review, Indiana Review, Portage Magazine and others. Karen was an original member of the Chicago Poetry Ensemble. She taught creative writing at Indiana University and University of Tennessee. She has a chapbook entitled Mercy and she facilitated meditative writing sessions for adults new to writing. Her play, SMOKE was produced by Three Brothers Theatre and she is currently looking for a theater for her most recent play, 7 TEETH: A Door County Farce.
