This class will create a safe, open space for participants to write about old or new pains or loss or happy moment needing to be brought back in … sadness mirrors joy. Led by various volunteer facilitators, each session will take a different approach to the topic. Time will be given to write and share stories if desired. Weather permitting, some sessions may be held outdoors.

This program is presented free (good will donations accepted at the door) but registration is required. Sessions are held the second Saturday of every month, 1 – 2 pm.

Today’s session will be led by Jan Newport.

Jan Newport is a retired educator. After her experience in both elementary and special education, the last ten years of her teaching career were as an Instructional Specialist in English Language Arts for Professional Development and Curriculum, PreK-12.  Her focus was on the teaching of writing. She has taught in both Illinois and California. Jan and her husband, with their dog Maggie May, make their home in Ellison Bay. She is an active member of the Liberty Grove Historical Society, serving on its board. Understanding the healing power of writing in her own life, Jan most recently mentored and continues to facilitate a community of writers in Northern Door County.
