Think of Readers’ Cafe as the most informal book group you’ve ever attended! There’s no need stay up late the night before trying to finish a book you don’t really care that much for. Instead, come prepared to talk about a book you loved — it could be one you read recently or one you read years ago. Each month will have a different focus so bring a book that relates to that theme. If you have a gently used book that you are ready to part with, bring it along to swap with other attendees!

For May, to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander History Month, we will focus on AAPI writers. Bring a book by a woman that inspired or challenged you. It could be a classic by Amy Tan or Li-Young Lee or a new discovery by a writer not yet a household name. The books could be in any genre: fiction, essay, poetry, memoir, children’s books.

Light refreshments will be served. You are more than welcome to stay and read in one of our peaceful spots if you would like!

Can’t attend? No problem! Send the title of the book you would have brought and the reason you selected it. These titles will be shared as a handout of recommended readings. Email your suggestion to Artistic Director Jerod Santek.
