Write On is happy to continue our collaboration with Midsummer’s Music, Poetry Meets Music. At one concert in each of Midsummer’s series offerings, a poet will read a poem written in response to a piece of music to be performed. Poets were given recordings in advance with no identifying information as to the title, composer, era, etc., and were asked not to look up this information. The result is a poem composed entirely in response to the emotions or memories the music evokes.

For tonight’s concert, we are pleased to present poet Albert DeGenova. Tonight’s concert is Beethoven, Haydn, and Schubert: Fairy Tales and Ghosts.  To order tickets, please visit Midsummer’s Music

Albert DeGenova is an award-winning poet, publisher, and teacher, as well as the Executive Director of Write On, Door County. He is the author of five books of poetry and two chapbooks. DeGenova is the founder of After Hours Press and editor of After Hours magazine, a journal of Chicago writing and art which launched in June of 2000.  He received his MFA from Spalding University in Louisville. He is also a blues saxophonist.
