FIND YOUR OWN BEST VOICE with Stephen Titra

Using the natural wonders of Door County as inspiration, we will practice a variety of exercises in style, form, and method. We will also explore the art of illustrated journaling and collaborative music lyric writing. We’ll begin by sharing some great writers who have written wisely about writing. Then we will focus on YOU: why you want to write, what you want to write about, who you want to write for. We’ll help you find your one “best voice” and begin to develop your skills. At the end of the week, we will share and celebrate our imaginations and creative work with each other.

Stephen A. Titra has served as a multi- disciplinary artist-in-residence for over 25 years at more than 100 sites across the country, including most recently for Mercy Home for Boys and Girls and Loyola University in Chicago. His programs have included creative writing, music and visual arts. He was educated at Loyola University, Mundelein College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As well as a career in education he has painted commissioned portraits and landscapes held in public and private collections in Rome, Washington DC, New York, Boston and Chicago. Stephen has written and hosted several educational video programs on the arts, illustrated two dozen books and album covers, created more than 15 large scale murals for schools and public spaces and recorded 3 albums of original music as a singer/ songwriter. He is currently working on illustrating a collection of his own writing.
