Door County Reads: Kick-Off Event

Write On, Door County is proud to be a partnering organization of Door County Reads. The 2023 program kicks off with a talk by Ron Lang and music by Katie Dahl. Alan Kopischke serves as emcee. Join us and find out more about the many programs planned around this year’s book selection, Raft of Stars by Andrew J. Graff. Inspired by the outdoor adventures in the novel, Ron will talk about his own experiences in the great outdoors.

Ron Lang was born and grew up in the Milwaukee area. After a four-year stint in the United States Air Force, he returned to school and received his degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. He taught high school social studies for 29 years, the last 26 at Gibrlatar Area Schools. He enjoys traveling to different states and national parks. He has been active in a number of outdoor organizations including the Wisconsin Conservation Congress, the Leopold Foundation, the Rocy Mountain Elk Foundation, and several bowhunters’ associations.

Katie Dahl is a songwriter and playwright whose work is as expansive as Lake Michigan and as deeply rooted as its rocky coastal bluffs. A small-town celebrity on the Wisconsin peninsula where her family has lived for 175 years, she is now a radio-charting folk artist who tours around the world. Clear-eyed and tough-minded, fresh and funny, Katie “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty, soulful voice” (American Songwriter)
