Coffee and Conversation with Spencer Hendrixson and Katherine Oh Yeaple

As part of Write On’s collaboration with StoryStudio Chicago, we are pleased to welcome two of their fiction writers for a week-long residency. Join us for a conversation with Spencer Hendrixson and Katherine Oh Yeaple about their writing process. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Spencer Hendrixson is a writer born/raised/based in Chicago. His work has appeared in MAKE and The Rumpus. He recently completed StoryStudio’s Novel-in-a-Year workshop, where he began work on a draft of a novel-in-stories about high schoolers in the mid-2000s navigating a gentrifying and ever-changing Chicago.

Katherine Oh Yeaple is a Chicago native, Korean-American, living in rural Pennsylvania with her husband and son. She is an essay coach and a former school nurse. She as taught ESL at the college level and worked in human services for the state and local government. Kathy has a B.A. in English Literature from Swarthmore College, an M.S. in Urban Planning from Columbia University, and a B.S.N. in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University. She is writing a young adult coming-of-age historical novel based in mid-20th century Korea. She also writes poetry and freelances for newspapers and magazines on topics of nature and the built environment.
