Pine. Cinnamon. Hot chocolate. Snow. The smells as autumn eases into winter are unmistakable and teleport us emotionally back into our personal histories. Stretch your senses and expand your notions of what smells mean and how they influence our feelings, thoughts, and expectations. Suitable for all ages, this 30-45 minute tour is led by Jude Stewart, writer-in-residence and author of the book Revelations in Air: A Guidebook to Smell. We’ll start with a few exercises to warm up our smellers and tune into this often-neglected sense. Then, we’ll smell our way around the grounds of Write On, learning about the smells of the season: their histories, symbolic and cultural meanings, and more. We’ll also make aromatic pomanders with fresh oranges and spices. You’ll leave the tour informed, delighted, and ready for a great-smelling holiday season!
The cost for this program is $10 per family. You can register online by clicking the button above. For other registration options, please call 920.868.1457.
