Write On is happy to continue our collaboration with Midsummer’s Music, Poetry Meets Music. At one concert in each of Midsummer’s series offerings, a poet will read a poem written in response to a piece of music to be performed. Poets were given recordings in advance with no identifying information as to the title, composer, era, etc., and were asked not to look up this information. The result is a poem composed entirely in response to the emotions or memories the music evokes.

For today’s concert, we are pleased to present poet Margaret Philbrick. To order tickets, please visit Midsummer’s Music.

Margaret Ann Philbrick’s first novel, A Minor: A Novel of Love, Music, and Memory, garnered critical praise from Kirkus Reviews. Her Christmas book, Back to the Manger, created with her mother, is now a holiday classic with over ten years of consistent sales. She is the contributing editor of the essay and poetry collection for women, Everbloom: Stories of Deeply Rooted and Transformed Lives. Her poems and articles have been featured in numerous anthologies and publications. Margaret is a founding member of the Redbud Writers Guild NFP and a member of the Door County Published Author Collective. She lives in Baileys Harbor with her family, which now includes three new grandsons. You can follow her writing at margaretphilbrick.com.
