Join poets Bruce Dethlefsen, Cathryn Cofell, and C. Kubasta for a friendly brunch (they’re doing the cooking!) where we’ll sit down together and talk about sharing our work: tips for reading, choosing poems that speak to each other, whether and how to introduce poems (or just read the damn poem!), and stories from reading gone brilliantly and all kinds of wrong. Bring a poem you’d like to read, but have questions about how best to share. After enjoying our meal, we’ll each take turns reading a poem in this welcoming space, supporting each other in the syrupy light, surrounded by the smell of butter. Mmmmm.

Cathryn Cofell is the author of six poetry chapbooks and two full-length collections including Stick Figure with Skirt, winner of the Main Street Rag Poetry Book Award. She’s been published 300+ times and earned over 50 awards, including the Lorine Niedecker Poetry Award, the Mill Prize and the Christopher Lathom Sholes award for mentoring other poets. She is the city of Appleton’s first Poet Laureate, co-coordinator of Poetry Unlocked and the Immediate Past President of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. www.cathryncofell.com.

Bruce plays music (cajon drum and harmonica) every Thursday at the tavern in Mount Morris. He volunteers teaching poetry in Wisconsin prisons. He’s had four full-length books of poetry published. A former Wisconsin Poet Laureta (2011-2012), Bruce lives in Westfield Wisconsin. His favorite poets are e.e.cummings and Marge Piercy.
