Poetry Reading: Cathryn Cofell, Bruce Dethlefsen, and Christina Kubasta
Join us for an afternoon of poetry and conversation with our writers-in-residence Cathryn Cofell, Bruce Dethlefsen, and C. Kubasta. All ages are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
Cathryn Cofell is the author of six poetry chapbooks and two full-length collections including, Stick Figure with Skirt, winner of the Main Street Rage Poetry Book Award. She's been published more than 300 times and has earned numerous awards for her writing, icnluding the Lorine Niedecker Poetry Award and the Mill Prize. Her poems have been set to music on Lip and in concrete on the sidewalks of Appleton and Waupaca. The Council for Wisconsin Writers selected Cathryn for the 2020 Christopher Latham Sholes Award for her efforts as founder of the Wisconsin Poet Laureate Commission and creator of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets Chapbook Prize, among others. Shie is currently co-President of the WFOP and lead the Appleton reading series called Poetry Unlocked.
Bruce Dethlefsen, Wisconsin Poet Laureate 2011-2012, had his fourth book of poems, Losing Purchase, published by Apprentice House Press in 2023. He is a retired teacher and public library director. Bruce volunteers in Wisconsin prisons doing poetry workshop and organizes Poety Camp, held twice a year in Mount Morris. A member of the Prairie Sands Band, Bruce lives in Westfield, Wisconsin.
C. Kubasta writes poetry, fiction, and hybrid forms. Her most recent book is the short story collection, Abjectification (Apprentice House Press), and her next poetry book, Under the Tented Skin, is forthcoming from Unsolicited Press in 2025.
