Poetry Meets Music

Write On is happy to continue our collaboration with Midsummer’s Music, Poetry Meets Music. At one concert in each of Midsummer’s series offerings, a poet will read a poem written in response to a piece of music to be performed. Poets were given recordings in advance with no identifying information as to the title, composer, era, etc., and were asked not to look up this information. The result is a poem composed entirely in response to the emotions or memories the music evokes.

Edward DiMaio published “Sound Scent & Light” a chapbook in 2002—Fr. Richard Rohr, O.F.M.
“Through Edward’s poetry, we can turn a spotlight upon the shadows in the crevices of our
memories.” and was included in “Poetry & Performance Volume 1” in 2023. DiMaio was one
of the poets from Write On Door County to read in Woodland Pattern Books, 2023 Poetry
Marathon. In 2022 DiMaio was one of three poets to represent Write On, Door County in
the Earth Day Everyday event. Edward has been the featured reader at the Emily Dickinson
Poetry Series and was also a featured poet in the Green Mountain Poetry Group.
