Door County author Virginia Maher celebrates the release of her latest book, The Forest, with a reading and reception.
The forest for Maher is beautiful as a whole, but also in its individual parts. The first section of her book explains Door County's geology, tree anatomy, and forest processes. Stunning photographs taken by the author help readers understand the distinctions between deciduous, coniferous, and boreal forests. Later sections explore the flora and fauna fo Door County with sections on wildflowers, lichen, fungi, as well as animals and birds. The book is a tribute to the beauty that lures many people to Door County, whether to reside or visit.
