“Baby shoes for sale. Never worn.” — anonymous, apocryphally attributed to Ernest Hemingway
In this generative workshop, participants will draw inspiration from micro-flash essay and micro-fiction examples such as 100-Word Love Stories, Tiny Truths, and prose poems to write their own creative nonfiction micros. Together we’ll discuss the work that micro essays do–looking at use of sensory details, figurative language, and narrative–to reveal universal truths to the reader. We will then experiment with form and lineation to lead our micro essays from steady, walking prose into the cha-cha step of poetry.
Class meets in-person, Wednesday, June 25, 10 am – noon
Class size: Minimum 5. Maximum 15.
