In partnership with the Friends of Lorine Niedecker and Woodland Pattern, Write On is pleased to host a reading with poet Kate Colby and Wisconsin Poet Laureate Nicholas Gulig.
There is a suggested goodwill donation of $10 which will be shared with the poets.
Kate Colby is the author of eight books of poetry and essays. She has received awards and fellowships from the Poetry Society of America, Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, the Dodd Research Center at the University of Connecticut, and Harvard University’s Woodberry Poetry Room. Her work has been featured in several musuems, including Beauport Sleeper-McCann, deCordova, Isabella Stewart Gardner, and RISD. Her poems and essays have recently appeared in A Public Space, Bennington Review, Boston Review, The Brooklyn Rail, Chicago Review, The Nation, and elsewhere. She is a founding board member of the Gloucester Writers Center in Massachusetts and now serves on its advisory board. Colby grew up in Massachusetts and currently lives in Providence, Rhode Island, where she teaches at Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania, and performs with the Spatulate Church Emergency Shift.
Nicholas Gulig is a Thai-American poet from Eau Claire and the current Poet Laureate of Wisconsin. A 2011 Fulbright Fellow, Gulig has received numerous accolades for his work, including the Rushkin Art Club Poetry Award, the Black Warrior Review Poetry Prize, the Grist ProForma Award, and the CSU Open Book Poetry Prize. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and lives with his wife and two daughters in Fort Atkinson.
