On the morning of departure, it’s a consolation to read through this book and see that others have received the gift of this place and still managed to leave and go forward into the next piece of their creative lives. I feel I’ve arrived somewhere new while staying here — and I’m leaving with a complete draft of a manuscript assembled from the incoherent rabble of poems I brought with me. Thank you, Jerod, Jaime, and Write On, for the peace and beauty of the place, and for the joy of sharing it with a friend (in writing and in life). I’ll never forget the little gray tree frog that sat on the door handle our whole last day!
