Three writers of memoir discuss their writing process with residents of Scandia Village. This program is not open to the public.
After a satisfying teaching career, Kathleen Crisci received an MFA in nonfiction writing from Sarah Lawrence College and began her second life. Her story, “Windows,” was anthologized in DIRT: The Quirks, Habits and Passions of Keeping House. Other stories have been published in various journals including Many Mountains Moving, ElevenEleven, The Westchester Review, Epiphany, and The New Guard. Kathleen lives in New York City with her two cats.
Judith Padow received her MFA in creative nonfiction from the Vermont College of Fine Arts in July 2016. Her award-winning essays have been published in such journals as Boulevard, Brevity, Hippocampus, and Solstice Literary Magazine: A Magazine of Diverse Voices. She recently complete a memoir, Moving Parts, about her years as a dancer and choreographer during the rule-breaking 1960s and 1970s. Also an attorney, she has practiced union-side labor law in New York City where she lives.
Jonathan Vatner is the author of two novels: The Bridesmaids Union, published in June 2022 by St. Martin’s Press, and Carnegie Hill, which earned praise from People, Town & Country, The New York Post, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. He is the managing editor of Hue, the magazine of the Fashion Institute of Technology and teaches fiction writing at New York University and the Hudson Valley Writers Center.
