PLAYWRIGHTS’ CRITIQUE GROUP
May 3 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Write On partners with the Playwrights’ Collective to present a virtual critique group for playwrights and scriptwriters to gather and discuss their work. Join us once a month to discover what the group is doing or to hear your work read aloud.
This group is presented free of charge and is open to writers of any experience level, adults as well as junior and senior high school students. The group will meet on the first Monday of the month at 7 pm CST. Dates for the late winter/spring session are March 1, April 5, and May 3, 2021. Participants will be provided Zoom access information to join the group and are welcome to join at any scheduled meeting in the season.
The group is facilitated by Paulette Laufer, a playwright, and Richard Carlson, a director, actor and former educator. Both hold M.F.A.’s in Dramatic Art (playwriting) from the University of Iowa, and have extensive theatre backgrounds professionally and educationally, including many years in the Washington, D.C., area. Since becoming residents of Sturgeon Bay in 2015, they have taught playwriting labs at Third Avenue Playhouse.
About the Playwrights’ Collective
Paulette Laufer, a writer, launched the Playwrights’ Collective in June, 2017, as an ongoing way for area playwrights to have the important step of hearing their scripts read aloud and gain from feedback and insights from others in the collective. This is a process-oriented group that has met seasonally in the Inside/Out Theatre space at the Margaret Lockwood Gallery. In the 2020 season, with support from Write On, the collective continued as a virtual group. Writers have the option of volunteering for a meeting date for the group to read their work: short plays, long one-acts, or multiple scenes or a first Act from a longer script are preferable to start. Specifics on emailing your work will be provided.
