ONLINE COLLEGE APPLICATION ESSAY SESSION
November 10 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
SPECIAL FREE PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WORKING ON THEIR COLLEGE APPLICATION ESSAYS
Writing the college essay can be challenging and daunting.
What if I feel like I have nothing to write about? Should I write about COVID-19? Should I write about the death of my grandmother? How will I stand out from other students? Nothing interesting has ever happened in my life. How do I stick to the word count? How do I get to the word count?
These are all very normal concerns about writing such an important essay. Luckily, there are answers to all of these questions.
Join Lauren Ward, a Nationally Board Certified teacher of English and Writing, while we start – and finish – writing your college application essay or scholarship personal statement. Ward has almost fifteen years of experience working with high school juniors and seniors to draft, edit, and submit a dynamic, unique, and well-written essay that will stand out and capture who you are. Whether you already have a draft started, or you have no idea how or where to begin, you’ll leave the workshop on the road to completing a strong writing piece.
During this workshop, Ward will guide participants through the essay application process, consider essay prompts from the University of Wisconsin system, the Common Application, and individual university requirements. Brainstorming, topic selection, and “DO’s” and “DON’T’s” of essay writing will be discussed. All participants will have the opportunity to submit a draft for Ward’s comments and editing.
This program is free and is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required. To register online, please click the button below. For other registration options, please call 920.868.1457.
