FICTION READING: Thomas Davis

July 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Join author Thomas Davis for a reading from his latest novel

APPLES FOR THE WILD STALLION

Poet and author Thomas Davis joins us for a reading from his new young adult novel, Apples for the Wild Stallion.

About Apples for the Wild Stallion:

Austin is a 15-year-old with autism who communicates using apps on his iPad, loves his family, and is not at all comfortable with change. He much prefers his life to follow its prescribed routing. But life doesn’t always listen. When the majestic wild stallion appears outside his window in the middle of the night, Austin’s carefully constructed life begins to overflow with change. He experiences an almost mystical connection to the wild stallion that helps him to push through his boundaries. He begins to make direct eye contact with people, develops friendships, and overcomes limitations that have long defined him. And he is willing to risk all when he learns that there is a threat to the magnificent creature that has served as a catalyst for positive change, however difficult, in his world.

About Thomas Davis:

Thomas Davis is the author of four novels, including In the Unsettled Homeland of Dreams, an historical novel which won the 2019 Edna Ferber Fiction Book Award from the Wisconsin Council of Writers. In addition, he has published two books of epic poems, The Weirding Storm: A Dragon Epic and An American Spirit: An American Epic. He is also the author of two books of nonfiction, including Meditation on Ceremonies of Beginnings, about his work in the tribal college movement and his founding the College of Menominee Nation.

This program is presented free and is appropriate for all ages. Families are encouraged.
