FICTION MASTER CLASS WITH JANE HAMILTON
The goals of the workshop in summer in Door County! To entertain ourselves and each other with our work. To consider what makes good writing and good story telling from the ground up: considering the usual suspects, including voice, setting, structure, character, word choice, mood, point of view. We’ll discuss these matters in and through each student’s pages as we identify the strengths of the work and the places that might require more clarity, focus, or direction. Each morning, in our three hours together, we’ll do an exercise or two before we move on to consider the manuscripts. We will talk about what is alive in the work, understanding the risks that each writer has taken, and helping the writer realize the best version of their pages.
This master class is by application only. There is a $10 non-refundable application fee. Applications are accepted April 1 to May 10. To be considered for the class, please submit up to 10 pages of fiction along with a goal statement for the class. Please click the button below to submit your work via Submittable.
