Discover the beauty of nature and words
FAMILY DAYS: THE LOST WORDS
“Once upon a time, words began to vanish from the language of children. They disappeared so quietly that at first no one noticed — until one day, they were gone. But there is an old kind of magic for finding what is missing, and for summoning what has vanished. If the right spells are spoken, the lost words might return…” — Robert MacFarlane, The Lost Words
Did you know that there are thousands of words to describe nature and landscapes? Did you know that many of those words are being forgotten or lost entirely? On this trail, you will learn about some of those words while experiencing the beauty of landscape and nature along Write On’s trail.
This in-person program is presented free (donations accepted). Families of all ages are invited to take part and may come by any time between 9 am and noon. It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete the trail. The trail is a half-mile long and covers uneven ground. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
Rain date: Saturday, October 3
