Dear Jerod and the good people of Write On, Door County:
I cannot thank you enough for all you’ve provided. I arrived here a week ago with around 19,000 words of a novel and I leave here with 55,000 in my pocket and ideas enough in my head to finish the thing. I couldn’t have done it without you.
I spent the vast majority of this week cooped up. Har har. Har. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a better place to write in my life. I know some people like to write in the bathtub and some people write standing up while others prefer to camp out in a cafe and abuse the bounty of the bottomless cup. I’m now afraid I’ll spend the rest of my days looking for a coop of my own. Expect a sternly worded letter from my wife.
Just kidding. She’s cool.
Thank you for providing me this space and solitude of a magnitude that I could neither hope to find nor afford on my own. You’ve given me a gift I’ve done nothing to deserve, and I thank you for it.
