For my birthday a dear friend sent me a book with this title: Keep Curious and Carry a Banana: Wisdom From The World of Curious George. Children’s books are often the place where the world is put back into perspective. Writers of children’s books reconnect with their own childlike nature in order to communicate to children and in the process come up with wisdom for all ages.
Here are a few quotes from Keep Curious:
- “A blank canvas is a brilliant opportunity.”
- “It’s a zoo out there. So keep your sense of humor.”
- “If there’s an elephant in the room, address it. You’ll sleep so much better.”
- And finally: “Grab a great seat. You don’t want to miss a thing.”
Think about the children’s books of your life, Curious George or Dr. Seuss, or any author you choose. Remember those stories that were read to you or that you read to others. Write a story about those moments in your life, the people who read to you, the people you read to. Remember being childlike and put the world back into perspective.
