On Sunday, August 26, poets met at Newport State Park to write poems as the moon rose over the water. Poets had until the following Saturday, September 1, to revise and polish their poems and send them to Write On. The poems were then posted on the Poetry Trail. This program is free and open to all ages. (A state park pass is required.)
Under the dark skies of the New Moon, we will gather at the Newport State Park office to walk the Poetry Trail. Participating poets will read their works along the way. Following the reading, all are invited to stay to study the beauty of the night sky. Newport is one of only 48 parks in the world to be designated an International Dark Sky Park.
