This workshop is taught in the tradition of renowned writer and teacher Norbert Blei (1935-2013) who passed the torch of his 40+ year writing class at The Clearing to long-time student Albert DeGenova. Albert will present the essence of Norb’s “beginner” class in Norb’s very own (and now famous) writing Coop at Write On, Door County. For burgeoning writers, this class will explore the major areas of creative writing: poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. For experienced writers, this class will offer insights into Norb Blei’s writing aesthetic, as well as offer writing prompts to spark your process. Journal writing, haiku, poetry and prose poems, short story writing, personal essay, blogs, the significance of poetic devices as the basis of all creative writing, and what “story” means in our lives will be discussed. In-class writing will anchor all the discussion. All that is required for this workshop is the urge and desire to write.
