An event every day that begins at 9:00am, repeating until Friday, July 20, 2018
Creativity Camp for Kids July 16th – 20th is recommended for students who will be entering 4th through 9th grades in September 2018.
Kids WOW! is a chance to make like Michelangelo, da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello. NO!, you won’t have to crawl through a strange ooze and then be expected to fight crime with twin katana, nunchaku, major muscles, and sick martial arts skills!
Rather, you’ll make like the original Michelangelo, da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello, the giants of the Renaissance, who didn’t just happen to create in the same time and place. Rather, their creative muscle came from knowing each other. It was the same with a bunch of famous writers in Paris in the 1920s, who knew each other, read each other, and played with each other.
You are invited to come connect with other Door County writers, write beside other writers, and play with other writers in the meadows, woods, glades, and buildings of Write On! Midweek, students will hop on the Door County Trolley to explore the wonderful world of writing around them.
You’ll have two teachers, the super-amazing Katie McKy and Kaija Johnson, who will guide you through writing forms, from haiku to humor, from tall tales to fairy tales, from thrillers to chillers. There will be so much play that it’s fitting you’ll end the week putting on a play, written and cast and set decorated by the group. Think of it as creativity camp!
All materials and supplies, as well as snacks, will be provided. Please bring your own lunch!
Bring a laptop, tablet, or Chromebook if you have one. Electronics that connect you to the Internet will be nice and helpful, but not necessary. Also, on Thursday, before the big play, there will be a water fight, which is another kind of play. If you don’t have a squirt gun, buckets and balloons will be provided. Don’t forget your towel and an extra set of clothes on Thursday!
Registration for the full week (July 16-20) is $175.00. Scholarships are available to local students. Please call 920-868-1457 for more information on available scholarships. To register online click here.
