The Door County Civility Project and collaboration with Write On, Door County, present Civility Matters: Talking Together. The program features Write On residents Dr. Kay Collier McLaughlin and Mary Louise Dean. Rather than focusing on how awful the current conversation in our society is, Dr. McLaughlin will focus on changing the conversation. She not only offers tools, but she also offers hope as a road map to action based on good practices of civic dialogue.
As a leadership consultant, McLaughlin travels throughout the country and beyond, offering experiential sessions that provide an opportunity for people of differing experiences, opinions, and perspectives to have an true dialogue with one another, Collier has a unique background as a musician and the daughter of an NFL championship football coach, both adding fascinating perspective to her work as consultant, author, and speaker. Joining her to facilitate the evening’s discussion on the topic will be Mary Louise Dean, artist and Talking Together presenter/facilitator
Music will be provided by Cathy Grier, singer, songwriter, producer, filmmaker, female blues guitarist, and creative force. Cathy’s multi-dimensional guitar technique, her talents on slide and harmonica, her gutsy vocal range, and her unique song craft, will thrill those in attendance with her performance.
