A hedge of trees surrounds me;
A blackbird’s lay sings to me
Praise which I will not hide…
Above my manuscript – the line one
The trilling of the birds sings to be
In a gray mantle the cuckoo sings
A beautiful chant to me from
The tops of bushes:
May the Lord protect me from Doom!
I write well under the green wood.
Verse written in the margin by an Irish scribe who copied Priscian’s Institutiones Grammaticae, 9th century.
To Jerod and all the other wonderful lovers of the written word who have worked to make this special place for creation and contemplation, thank you for your thoughts, your words, your efforts! It’s a great beginning, and growing every day. Wonderful to spend time in a place where you can feel the presence and inspiration of those who have come before. My first visit to this place, but not the last!
With appreciation and highest regards,
