Autumn light. As the season changes, the light that accompanies the season changes everything. It is not just perspective. It is color and shading, it is shadow and full brightness. The light of autumn, much like the light of spring, opens our eyes and perhaps our hearts to a different perspective. As the angle of the light from the sun changes what we see and don’t see changes, sometimes, as happened this morning, the sun blinds us and at the same time shows us things we haven’t seen since the fall before.
Walking in the early morning or observing in the evening, autumn sunbeams are both revealing and secretive. Take some time, some real slow down time, and look at what autumn light is illustrating about our world. Whether it is a city street with a late summer flower framed in the autumn sunrise, or a meadow bathed in the pre-sunset golden glow. Look at it. See it. Then write about the light. What you see will surprise you.
